Gosport Weather Update

It has been along time since we updated our blog. This has been due to work commitments and a lot of work going on on different parts of the website.

Some of the work is listed below:

1) We are working hard to ensure webpages display correctly on both mobile and tablet devices. We have noticed that a lot of visitors use tablets and mobile phones to visit our website so therefore some pages have been updated to ensure they display correctly on these devices.

2) We are updating our email service adding new lists giving users more control over what information they receive from us. Users will also be able to subscribe and unsubscribe via our website. The service is currently being tested and should be live within the next few weeks.

3) The Gosport Weather forecast software now uses the new Global Forecast System (GFS) data therefore increasing the accuracy of the forecasts. New software which helps improve our forecasts is also being used.

4) Repairs and maintenance has been carried out to the astronomy and marine sections to repair broken links and images. These sections are now working and available at:

1. Sun / Moon Almanac
2. Sun, Moon and Seasons
3. Star Chart
4. Space Weather
5. Marine Weather

5) The charts page is being updated with new chart images and should go live by the end of March. The reason this is taking so long is due to the update to the GFS and the amount of code involved.

6) Work is being carried out to the links page to make it relevant to Gosport and the surrounding area with links to local authorities and utility companies. If you would like your page to be included please email the Gosport Weather Webmaster.
