We will soon be going off-line for approximately 30 minutes in order to incorporate our forecast into the Homepage and add links to the sidebar.
We have used external sources for our forecasts for a year now. We feel that it is time to provide our own forecasts produced using data from The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the USA, the UK Meteorological Office and Southampton Airport.
We have finished testing a piece of software called WXSIM which is used to produce our forecasts four times a day at 2am,8am,2pm and 8pm. We will continue to monitor the forecast runs for errors and inaccuracies. In the event of major errors the WXSIM forecast will cease to operate and we will use Weather Underground until a solution has been found.
We hope visitors find our forecasts useful and we hope to be able send the forecasts using the weather warning system shortly. This is subject to further testing to decide which is the most appropriate and accurate forecast run and at which time the forecast should be sent.
